Job Description:
Financial Job in California. Assists in the production, audit, and analysis of Metro’s/PTSC’s annual financial statements and budget; uses financial model to fund expenditure database; supervises subordinates; provides problem resolution and research and analysis to executive management.
assists in the budgeting, allocation, and analysis of benefits, insurance, allocated overhead and pension plans and recommends changes.
Conducts studies of the more complex financial system operations including developing forecast models for estimating revenues including sales taxes and operating revenues; assists in the analysis and recommendation of methods for the budgeting of debt principle and interest payments.
serves as Project Manager in various ad hoc research studies such as designing management financial reports, evaluating the impact of capital programs, and other projects.
prepares monthly reports to the Board of Directors regarding activities in Finance and Budget; oversees, monitors, and adheres to departments/units budget, goals, and schedules which complies to agency-wide fiscal responsibility.
responsible for communicating and implementing safety rules, policies, and procedures in support of the agency's safety vision and goals; maintains accountability for the safety performance of all subordinate employees; and performs other related work.
Qualification and Requirement: Winning candidate MUST possess the following
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or other related field
• A Master’s Degree and/or a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is desirable.
• three years of supervisory or senior-level experience in responsible staff, advisory, or managerial capacity in a finance organization.
• Must have a satisfactory job performance record as verified by reference check prior to the offer of employment.
• Knowledge: Theories, principles, and practices of accounting, finance, and economics; applicable laws governing pension, benefits administration and financial institutions.
• Abilities: Interact professionally with the Board of Directors; Metro executive staff, various levels of Metro employees, elected officials, union and outside representatives; exercise judgment and creativity in making decisions and recommendations; prepare comprehensive reports and correspondence; create economics models.
