Job Description:

Basic Functions: The Legal Department Paralegal reports to, and is responsible for implementing instructions of, the General Counsel and Associate General Counsel and maintaining absolute confidentiality of any information received in this capacity. The Legal Department Paralegal also is responsible for a variety Legal Department administrative and support tasks, described below.

Skills Required: Must have formal training as a paralegal and have received a Paralegal Certificate or Degree from an accredited paralegal school. Must have at least 3-5 years experience as a paralegal in a corporate legal department (preferred) or private practice setting. Must have good communication, organization and writing skills; the ability to perform legal research; an in-depth knowledge of legal terminology and principles; and the ability to analyze legal documents for accuracy. Professional phone skills and ability to exercise good judgment are critical. Should be self-motivated and able to work independently under pressure and deadlines.

Ability to work and interact with co-workers is key. Knowledge of, or experience with, firearms is a plus, though not required. Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Westlaw Research; familiarity with preparation of PowerPoint presentations a plus.

Responsibilities: Within the limits of authorized policies and procedures, the Legal Department Paralegal is responsible for the following duties, among others:

A. Organization and maintenance of Legal Department files and documents including litigation files, patent files, leases and supporting documents, purchasing contracts, marketing contracts, non-disclosure agreements, and general information files.

B. Responding to inquiries and requests in accordance with Legal Department policies and practices including responding to telephone, e-mail and snail mail from customers, inventors, industry contacts, and Company personnel.

C. Preparing first draft non-disclosure agreements and other standard agreements and documents for review by the Associate General Counsel and/or General Counsel.

D. Maintenance of Legal Department reference documents including documents to track legal expenses, trademarks, patents, firearms laws, Company compliance with regulations and laws, training programs, and other matters.

E. Preparing and maintenance of correspondence, documents, reports charts and graphs for insurance purposes, SEC filings, and training presentations by the Legal Department.

F. General legal research and tracking of proposed legislation, with reporting to the General Counsel and Associate General Counsel regarding same.

G. Miscellaneous Legal Department tasks and general support for the Management Team (Corporate Officers) as required. Additional Requirements: All applicants must submit a writing sample of not less than three pages in standard memorandum format.
