Job Description:

Job in PA; Duties include but not limited to: Institute an effective safety program for the Tiburon workforce at Letter kenny Army Depot.

Develop and maintain a standard operating procedure (SOP) to ensure continuity of all safety functions (accident investigations, handling injuries, safety training, etc). Develop effective training programs for employees to include an effective weekly training program that covers safety related topics pertinent to the type of work performed at LEAD as well as ensure any yearly OSHA mandated training topics are covered.

Work closely with LEAD safety department personnel to ensure employees are in compliance with all LEAD mandated safety directives. Establish relationships with local health care providers that furnish work-related medical services to employees.

Schedule employment drug screens and physicals and be responsible for coordinating medical attention for work related injuries including initial treatment and follow up medical appointments. Work with HR and our insurance providers to review injuries, track worker's compensation claims, and monitor the Back to Work program. Chair the Safety Committee meetings.

Provide initial safety training to new hire including workplace hazard training, forklift training (if required) and other safety topics as required. Will conduct post accident investigations, working with LEAD safety and security departments as required. Monitor all employees' worksites for an unsafe working environment and ensure no unsafe work practices are occurring.

The Safety Director will coordinate with government supervisors and LEAD's Safety Department to correct unsafe work conditions.

Maintain safety/training files for all employees. Perform other duties as required. Education: Minimum High School Diploma; four year degree desirable. Experience: Minimum 5 years related experience in a safety role.

Must be able to show positions of increased responsibility. Skills: Must have experience managing a safety program for a large number of employees; good knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations; working proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access) and have good verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to obtain a Government Secret clearance.
